This painting is by Suzanne Peters, a local Chicago artist who was prolific from the mid 60s into the mid 1980s. This piece is from when Suzanne was in art school, as evident by the notes on the verso of the piece. The painting differs in many ways from the other Suzanne Peters pieces that we have in our collection, which are mainly from later in her trajectory as an artist. This piece, most notably, is done in a much more traditional style as a still life or nature morte featuring flowers, vases, beautifully draped fabric, and fruit. Just as notable, however, is Suzanne's warm and expert attention to texture -- though her later work in abstracts and portraiture deviates from the still gaze, the emotional movement in this piece is congruent to her less traditional pieces.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe warmth of tone in the painting comes out in ochre yellow, maroons and scarlets, with a mixture of geometric angles that interplay with the softer, liquid shapes of the organic material in the middle ground. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThis painting would be gorgeous in any collection or any living space, and is a perfect nod to traditionally studied art with a bit of a wink to the more unconventional side of art and aesthetic, which Suzanne did so well. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe painting is in great vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. It has been naively framed and the simple wood frame is sold in as-is condition. The canvas has one small ding as pictured, as well as a slight ripple in the top left corner (should be visible in picture 3.)
