This is a 17th -18th c. Spanish colonial tooled leather over wood petaca or document box.  The leather is decorated with various animals and foliage.  The hardware is hand forged iron with a beautiful bronzed aged patina. This piece is perfect for a space that you would like to add some depth and texture to.  We envision it in a reading room or a wine tasting space.  It's history is unknown but you can imagine tales of conquistadors and shipwrecks.  It measures 21" long x 14" deep x 8 " high.  Please see the condition report for details about condition.
